Michael J. Thomas

Dr. Michael John Thomas, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2024 in Englewood, FL. He was husband to Jeannine M. (Laberge) Thomas for nearly 34 years, most of which were spent in their home in Manchester, NH. 

Michael was born on August 4, 1953, in Port Huron, MI. He was the oldest of seven sons of the late William Thomas and Joanne (Fiedler) Thomas. Michael and his brothers were known throughout Port Huron for their manners, their humor, and their athleticism. They were proud to “be a Thomas.”  

Michael graduated from Port Huron Catholic High School in 1971. He studied at Saint Claire Community College before continuing on to graduate school at National College of Chiropractic. He graduated at the top of his class in 1976 with his Doctorate of Chiropractic.  

Michael moved to New England in 1979 and began his chiropractic career in Wilmington, MA. While his children were young, he was an active member of the Wilmington Rotary Club, Wilmington Knights of Columbus as a Grand Knight, and served on the Wilmington School Committee. For over 40 years, Dr. Thomas healed thousands of people. He loved his patients and had a passion for helping others, never hesitating to lend a hand. He was described by his patients as one of a kind, inspiring so many to follow their dreams. He was not only their doctor, but also their friend. 

Michael loved spending time with his family. They shared wonderful memories camping along the Pemigewasset River, skiing the White Mountains, and many road trips to Michigan. Some of the best of times were spent at home, where he could be found waxing his Corvette or entertaining friends and family while cooking on the grill. He had the right tool for any job, a one-liner for everything, and the cleanest pool in New England.

Michael is survived by his wife Jeannine, his children Kristen Thomas and wife Kristi Lyman, Katelyn Pierson-Thomas and wife Alexis, Kimberly Khan and husband Khalib, and Michael Thomas Jr. and wife Hannah, stepchildren Matthew Gatsas and wife Celia, and Amanda Casey and husband Dan, his grandchildren Kevin, Kennedy, Adrian, Micah, Mark, Karam, and step-grandchildren Calla, Matthew, Adra, Harper, and Brody. Michael is also survived by his brothers Greg and wife Geri, Dennis, Peter, David and wife Cheryl, Robert and wife Susan, and Jerome.

 He will be missed beyond measure, but will live on through the many lives he touched. Until we see you again, “Second star to the right, and straight on ‘til morning.”
