Mildred J. "Jo" Dillback, 87, of Keene, NH passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Cheshire Medical Center in Keen. She was born in Brattleboro, VT on May 4, 1927, the daughter of the late Peter F. and Mildred (Doughty) Dillback.
Jo attended the local school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School. She then went on to attend UVM, earning her bachelor's degree in 1949 and later attended Adelphi University earning her master's degree in English. She was employed for 35 years as a middle school teacher in Long Island, NY until her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed crafting handmade wool rugs, and participating in various community activities.
She is survived by a niece, Joy Hayes of W. Guilford, VT; three great nieces, Mary Hall of Austin, TX, Katy Morgan of Dummerston; and Victoria Conroy of E. Longmeadow, Mass; a great grandniece, Emily O'Keefe of Austin, TX; two great grand nephews, Julian and Samuel Conroy of E. Longmeadow, Mass; cousin, Frieda Davis of W. Chesterfield, NH, whom she reunited with in recent years; as well as several other cousins.
A Memorial Service was celebrated on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Guilford Community Church, 38 Church Dr., Guilford, VT at 4:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the local scholarship fund of the American Association of University Women at www.keene-nh.aauw.net.
