Minnie C. Waitt

Minnie C. Waitt, 86, of Manchester and formerly of Hooksett, died April 18, 2005 at Villa Crest Nursing Home after a period of declining health. Minnie was born on March 2, 1919 in Rockland, MA the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Bourne) Calderara. She grew up in Abington, MA graduating from Abington High School. In the late 1930s, Minnie graduated from Boston University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Music. She met and married the late Richard B. Waitt and the couple settled in Middleton, MA, where she was a piano teacher and a substitute organist at many churches in the North Shore area. The couple retired to Wareham, MA where she became an organist at Grace Episcopal Church in Marion, MA. and was a frequent volunteer at Tobey Hospital. Minnie had a life-long passion for music and was a former member of the American Guild of Organists. A few years after the death of her husband in 1985, Minnie moved to Hooksett, NH to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Brookside Congregational Church and volunteered at nursing homes in Manchester where she provided countless hours of enjoyment with local residents performing sing-a-longs. Family members include; two sons, Paul C. Waitt and his wife, Debra of Londonderry and Richard B. Waitt and his wife, Cynthia of Vancouver, WA; two granddaughters, Kristin E. Hutchinson of Seattle, WA and Rebecca K. Waitt of Londonderry; one grandson, Adam N. Waitt of Londonderry; four sisters, Alice Dunham of Carver, MA, Emma Zeoli of Warsaw, IN, Ruth Libby of Abington, MA, Edna Shire of Cranston, RI; a beloved friend, Arthur Dauten of Ocala, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her loving husband, Minnie was predeceased by two brothers, Carl Calderara of RI and Charles Calderara of CA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 1:00 PM at Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm Street in Manchester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Brookside Congregational Church, Organ Fund, 2013 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
