Miriam Helen Childs

Miriam H. Childs, 86 of Brattleboro, VT passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Brattleboro on October 31, 1930; the daughter of the late Matt W. and Edith (Ingalls) Huntley.

Miriam was a lifelong Brattleboro resident. She attended the local school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, Class of 1949. She was employed at Wagner's Shoe Store, Robertson Motors and Molly Stark Nursery. She is a longtime member of the Centre Congregational Church in Brattleboro. Miriam enjoyed making crafts, gardening, the beach, and cooking.

She is predeceased by her husband, Laurence R. Childs in 2015 and a sister, Ethel Mills in 1989.

She is survived by three children, Wanda L. Benoit and her husband Douglas of Turner Falls, MA, Wendy L. Parker and her husband James of Vernon and Jeffrey R. Childs of Brattleboro; two brothers, Frederick W. Huntley and Robert A. Huntley both of Brattleboro; three grandchildren, Brandon D. Benoit, Wesley L. Benoit and Samantha R. Parker; and two great grandchildren, Enrique and Brandon Sanchez-Benoit.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St, Brattleboro, VT. Burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
