Mona C. Vachon

Mona C. (Down) Vachon, 86, of Bedford, NH, died on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Vachon was born on October 12, 1931, in Altoona PA, the daughter of the late William and Julia (Colburn) Down. Growing up in Altoona, she attended high school (Class of 1951) and later worked for four years at Sylvania, also in Altoona. After Sylvania, she traveled widely and lived in both Europe and the United States, having settled in Bedford, NH in 1973 where she resided until her death.
Early during her residence in Bedford, NH, Mrs. Vachon worked for 15 years at Tel Labs in Manchester NH. Her hobbies and interests included traveling, sewing, quilting, and collecting dolls, miniature shoes, and tea sets.
Members of her family include her husband of 39 years, Donald J. Vachon, of Bedford, NH; one son, Frank Lord and his wife Doreen of Tilton, NH; three daughters, Catherine Overson and her husband, Mick of Weare, Jennifer Lord, of Manchester, Victoria Masry and her husband Paul, also of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Heather Overson, Bridget Overson, Jason Overson, Stephanie Lord, Stephen Lord, Sarah Masry, Joseph Masry; two great grandchildren, Natalie and Zoe; one sister, Marjorie Walls, of Altoona, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 5pm – 7pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, in Manchester, NH. Private interment will take place at a later date.
