Muriel (Benoit) Farnham, 77, of 3 Gleneagle Drive, Bedford died at her residence on April 4, 2001 after a brief illness. She was born in North Troy, VT on March 6, 1924, the daughter of Ovila and Jeanne (Roberge) Benoit and had lived in Manchester for many years prior to moving to Bedford two years ago. She was a self-employed court transcriptionist and was known for her speed and flawless transcripts. She was a transcriptionist on the Watergate hearings in 1974. Muriel was a beloved wife and exceptionally devoted mother and grandmother. Her family includes her husband of 53 years, Elwin Farnham of Bedford, two sons, Dana A. Farnham and his wife Pamala of Boone, Iowa and Gregory J. Farnham and his partner, Christopher Varga of Glen Ridge, NJ; two daughters, Shelley Hilber and her husband Jeffrey of Vienna,VA and Mary Wong and her husband Harold of Dove Canyon, California; Muriel had four grandchildren; Courtney, Caitlin, and Stephen Hilber and Maya Wong; She also leaves two sisters, Martha Petrin and Desneiges Lamy and her husband Leo; and many cousins nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. on Friday evening from 7 to 8 PM with a memorial service to follow at 8:00 PM in the funeral home Chapel.
