Myles J. Finnegan

Myles J. Finnegan (88) passed away February 12th at his home in Bethlehem, NH after a lengthy illness

He was born in Lowell, MA to Miles and Anna Finnegan of Billerica, MA.

Myles attended Keith Academy in Lowell, MA and Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. He then transferred to and graduated from Stockbridge School of Forestry, University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Myles joined the U.S. Forest Service, and his first station was at the Jefferson National Forest in Virginia. He transferred to Maine and finally to New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest where he worked as the Timber Sales Administrator and participated in many search and rescue missions in the district, as well as serving on western forest fire teams until his retirement.

Myles also served in the U.S. Navy Reserves until his honorable discharge.

Myles greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved organizing and serving as a guide to family group hikes. The trek up to Mt. Washington was a favorite.

He was a NASCAR fan and attended races at locations around the country.

He and his wife, Carol, enjoyed their travels across the U.S. visiting historical sites with a goal of visiting all U.S. National Parks. They also enjoyed their trips to Ireland and France.

After his retirement, Myles pursued his “hobby” of growing Christmas Trees, which eventually grew into the business of Finnegan’s Fine Firs. He loved to visit with all the families who visited the farm.

Myles was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Martin and sister, Maureen Mulligan.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Anne (Olivier); daughter, Kelly Connors and husband Robert of Atkinson, NH; son, Timothy and wife Yolanda of Monrovia, CA; and son, Miles of Bethlehem, NH. Sister, Margaret Topitzer and husband Robert; and brother, Mark and wife Catherine.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kira and Daniel Connors of Atkinson, NH and many nieces and nephews.

In respect of the family’s wishes, all services will be held privately. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
