Nellie “Irene” (Tinker) Brown Bartlett, 85, died on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Concord Hospital after a period of declining health with her beloved daughters by her side. She was born on September 19, 1938 on the family farm in Boscawen.
She was the wife of the late Robert “Bob” Brown, the love of her life. Irene and Bob were married on September 29, 1956 in Concord. After Bob passed away in 1979, Irene remarried in 1982 to Ferdinand “Red” Bartlett.
She lived in the Concord and Penacook areas much of her life and attended Concord High School. She worked many years for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the State of NH, retiring in 2000.
In her free time, Irene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She loved to go camping with her family, as well as to the beach, and Red Sox games. Above all, she loved spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren. Irene was easily liked by all that met her due to her fun and friendly personality. She had a truly wonderful sense of humor with her quick wit and snappy comebacks enjoyed by all who met her.
Irene was predeceased by her son, Robert “Skip” Brown, as well as two sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Robin Brown and significant other Rob Wilkinson. Rena Connor and son-in-law John Connor; grandchildren, Kristi & Chris Watts, Ryan LaBonte & fiance Karah Smith, Felicia & John Dascoulias, and Jacob Haleplidis; step-grandchildren, Cassidy Connor and Justin Connor; and great-grandchildren, Jasmyn Watts, Emalyn Watts, and Logan LaBonte.
SERVICES: Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King Street in Boscawen. A Cemetery Committal Service will follow visitation on Tuesday, 1:30pm, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
