NELLIE CLARA ADAMS
CONCORD -- Nellie Clara Adams, 87, died at the Concord Hospital on July 26th after complications from a serious fall.
Nellie was born in Thornton, NH on March 5, 1916, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Downing) Merrill. She graduated from Woodstock High School and Concord Business School.
She worked as a cook in several restaurants in the Thornton/Plymouth area. Nellie was active in several churches and a member of the Thornton United Methodist Church. She was also active in the Grange, including the State Juvenile Grange, as well as the Rebekah's. Most of her life was spent in West Thornton. She lived at Prince Haven in Plymouth where she organized many trips for the residents, prior to moving to the Odd Fellows Home (now Presidential Oaks) in Concord, NH.
Surviving family members include two sisters; Alice Downing of Meredith and Rachel Frye of Exeter. Her husband, Fred Adams, four brothers, three sisters, and a beloved nephew, Steven Levasseur, with whom they shared their home, all died previously.
Following her stated wishes, the family requests that there be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the Thornton United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Bickford officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her memory, to the Thornton United Methodist Church.
