Norma C. Burke, 88 of Vernon, VT died on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. She was born in Owls Head, NY on July 13, 1927; the daughter of the late Lawrence and Blanche (Smith) Casagrain.
She attended school in Belmont, NY and Melrose, NY. On October 20, 1946 she married Charles Burke. Norma was active in Girl Scouts; she was a Brownie, Girl Scout Troop Leader and a member of the Girl Scout Camp Committee. She also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
Norma was noted for her cheerful nature, and her contagious laughter. She was a faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She had a great love for people and loved to greet them. Norma had a great trust and love for the Lord, and tried to live her life that would show others how to love one another as God loves each one of them.
She is predeceased by her husband, Charles in 2010 and a daughter, Cheryl McAlpine.
She is survived by a daughter, Dixie Willette and her husband Joe of Hinsdale, NH; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery in Brattleboro, VT at a later date. The KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's name to a charity of one's choice.
