Norma Irene Pike (Ecklund) was born in 1928 in Denison Iowa and passed away peacefully at home March 28, 2016 in Great Falls VA. She was 87 years of age. Her parents, Russell William Ecklund (1896-1989) and Erma Irene Johnson (1897-1975), were from large families of Swedish farming immigrants, who emigrated to Iowa in 1860/70s, she was the youngest of five siblings: Winifred (1920), Ruth and Ruby (1922) and William (1923).
She met and married Laurence Pike in 1950 at the University of Iowa. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Chemistry in 1954. Moving to New York City while Larry attended Columbia law school, Norma worked for several years at New York Hospital pharmacy. In 1958, they moved to Scarsdale NY to raise their growing family. In 1993, Norma and Larry retired to their home in Brattleboro Vermont. Their home in Brattleboro was a wonderful venue for many family gatherings over the years.
Norma was predeceased by her husband (1999) and a daughter, Barbara (2013).
She is survived by 3 sons, William (Lory) of Santa Rosa, CA, Jeffrey (Nelly) of Great Falls, VA, and Alan of Tarrytown, NY; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Stuart, Ariana, Jasmine and Andres, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited for a time of Visitation on Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Ker- Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High Street, Brattleboro, VT. A Graveside committal services and interment will follow at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
