Norman H. Hinton, 72, of Manchester went on the be with the Lord at his home with his wife by his side on July 30, 2007.

He was born on July 11, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan. Norm was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War as a morse code interceptor. In 1962, he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He moved to New Hampshire in 1965 and became part of the Windham Police Department for several years. He graduated from the State Police Training Academy in 1977 and was also a certified EMT. Norm was appointed as Deputy Sheriff with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department in 1978 until he retired in 1991. For the past 14 years, Norm has been a child support enforcement officer with the State of NH.

Norm was Red Sox fan and history buff. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fencing, boxing, roller dancing and played college football. Norm was also a deer hunter, avid fly fisherman, who was also skilled at fly tying. He was an oil painter, trumpet player and his beautiful voice blessed many through solos and choirs. Norm was a devote Christian man and spiritual leader whose strong faith, teaching abilities and love for Israel touched and continues to touch the lives of many. He has run the race and fought the good fight.

Family members include; his wife of 12 years, Gloria (Gauthier Terribile) Hinton; three sons, Russell Hinton of Sandown, John Terribili of NC and Adam Terribile of AZ; five daughters, Robin Dougherty of CA, Linda Dion of Derry, Donna Ranger of Belmont, Christine Hinton of Salem and Jacqueline Boisvert of Merrimack; 13 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was a father to all.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. A Celebration of Life Service will he held Saturday morning at 11:00 at Faith Worship Center, 2 Lomar Park Drive in Pepperell, MA. Burial will be Monday morning, August 6th at 10:00 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
