Normand Coutu

Normand Coutu, 84, of Manchester, NH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 8, 2021. Born in Manchester on October 5, 1936, he was a son of the late Albert and Irene (Auclair) Coutu. He shared 62 years of marriage with his loving wife, Helen (Goudreau) Coutu.

Normand was raised and educated in Nashua. Upon returning from serving in the United States Army, Normand settled in Manchester. He worked for Firestone as a salesman for several years before working for the City of Manchester Parks and Recreation Department for nearly 26 years until his retirement. During his retirement he loved vacationing with his wife, volunteering in the community, playing cribbage at the senior center and visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid Boston sports fan except when it came to the New York Giants. He also enjoyed time spent at the YMCA and the Derryfield Country Club playing many rounds of golf. He will be remembered for his bright smile and vivacious spirit.

Normand is survived by his wife, Helen Coutu of Manchester; his son, David Coutu and wife Nancy of Manchester; his daughters, Denise Aube and husband Steven of Bedford and Suzanne Paradis and husband Roland of Goffstown; his brother, Reverend Lucien Coutu of Montreal; six grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Ashley, Lauren, Stephanie and Jeffrey; six great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends who have known him as Mr. C.

Normand was predeceased by his brother Gerald Coutu of Canton, CT and Robert Coutu of Nashua, NH.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 14th at 10am, Parish of the Transfiguration, 107 Alsace Street, Manchester, followed by a burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Those in attendance are respectfully requested to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Normand's memory may be made to: Voluntary Services, VAMC, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104. These donations will be used for veterans in need. The family would like to thank the VNA Home/Health and Hospice for all their services and support during this difficult time.
