Nyria Anne (Webb) Shaw, 91, of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday, May 17, 2026. Her family was by her side at The Pines in Newmarket, NH.
She was born May 12, 1935, in Windsor, UK to Lionel Victor and Kathleen (Dickinson) Webb. Nyria received her schooling from St. Bernard’s Convent for Girls in Slough, Bucks. Enduring through WWII, she later left at age fourteen for Lille, France as an exchange student. At eighteen, Nyria gained entrance to Oxford University, but instead chose a position with Standard Oil Company in London.
In 1957, Nyria married her husband, Beverley. In 1959 their first daughter, Verne was born. Ten months later, they emigrated to the US where they had planned to stay two years as Bev’s career as a Metallurgist continued. Their daughters Abigail and Jessa were born and the family settled in North Reading. The Dale family, also from England was a continued grounding.
Working as a buyer for Daka International, she enjoyed new friendships and continuing to be the matriarch for her growing American family. As avid sailors and golfers, Bev and Nyria spent summers around the Cape and islands of Buzzards Bay. In retirement they used some spare time to travel and work for Habitat for Humanity. They also exchanged their yawl “Ariadne” for an island cottage in Maine, that grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy.
Bev and Nyria were married for 65 years.
Nyria was predeceased by her husband, Beverley A Shaw, her younger sister and brother-in-law Jan and Peter Rowlandson of W Sussex and Bev’s sister and brother-in-law Josephine and Peter Neeves of Bucks, UK.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Verne and Scott Orlosk, Abigail and Tom Troy, Jessa and Tim Haynes. Grandchildren – Kiele and Jason Gregoire, Jaimie and Cornelius Tyson, Ashley Talbot, Meghan Troy, John and Marissa Troy, Corinne and Seth Bishop, Samuel Haynes. Great grandchildren – Hayes, Wyn and Zoe Gregoire, Killian and Callum Troy, Oakley and Coda Bishop, Fiona Tyson. Also, several nieces and nephews in England.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29th 11am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Mammoth Rd, Londonderry, NH. For those who cannot attend and would like to view, please find a live stream on the web site. stpeterslondonderry.org
A celebration of life will also take place for immediate family in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wentworth Hospice Care in NH.
