Olive M. (Thurston) Pratt, 88, of Manchester, died January 12, 2008 at Villa Crest Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in Manchester on November 21, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Kemp) Thurston and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School. After retiring from Evangeline Shoe Company, she worked part time in the cafeteria at Beech Street School. She was an excellent baker and seamstress. She was a member of AARP and had been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In Her Life: Family members include two daughters, Ruth Demers and her husband Arthur, and Sheila Gagne and her husband Larry, all of Manchester; four grandchildren, Charles Demers of Goldsboro, NC, Christopher Gagne of Bedford, TX, Cathleen DeArville of Manchester and Jennifer Bobolia of Randolph MA; three great grandchildren, Allison and Mikayla Demers of Goldsboro, NC and Maximus DeArville of Mancheser; a sister, Ruth Poisson of Manchester; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her former husband, Louis J. Pratt who died in June 2007, by a sister, Kathryn Taryla and two brothers, Frank Thurston and Clyde Thurston. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 PM. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Urn burial with a committal service will be in Pine Grove Cemetery on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
