Ovila J. "Marty" Martel, 87, formerly of Concord, passed away on March 21, 2015 at Pine Rock Manor in Warner.
He was born in Manchester on September 23, 1927, the son of Ludger and Albina (Lambert) Martel where he grew up and attended local Catholic Schools. He was a United States Army combat veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of the NH Technical Institute He was a machinist for Lockheed Sanders for 32 years and was a deep sea diver for Sanders at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He enjoyed the outdoors, deep sea fishing and had a great sense of humor. He was a resident of Dumbarton for many years and resided in the home in which he built.
Family members include his wife of 35 years, Pandora (Phillips) Martel; three step daughters, Pandora Skotnicki and her husband Paul of NY, Nancy Siff and her husband David of Concord, and Emily Weaver and her husband Alan of TN; seven grandchildren, Stefan Skotnicki, Tasha Skotnicki, Jonathan Siff, Jennifer Siff, Naomi Weaver, Christopher Weaver, Matthew Weaver; and five great grandchildren, Rowan Siff, Powell Siff, Christopher Aavartsmark Mart, Everett Aavartsmark, Lily Walter; a brother Real Martel of Milford; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Albert Martel, Andrew Martel, Leo Martel and Wilfred Martel, and by three sisters, Theresa Taylor, Constance Landry, and Justine Rowe.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester on Thursday from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:30.
