PAMELA D. HOUGHTON
WOODSVILLE, NH -- Pamela D. Houghton (Lyndes) 57, left this life peacefully surrounded by her family on November 28th.
Pamela, the eldest child of Seth S. Lyndes, Sr. and Voila O. (McGuire) Lyndes, was raised in Lyman, NH along with her three sisters and three brothers. Pam was a graduate of Lisbon Regional School. She continued her education at New Hampshire Technical College earning her RN degree in nursing. During this time she was employed at Littleton Regional Hospital for thirteen years. This is how many will remember her. Many felt her compassion, gentle touch, and her smile were a healing force. During this career Pam suffered an injury to her left shoulder and had to leave her passion. However, not before Pams life had changed, she married her greatest love Richard Houghton. Together they shared twenty-one years. Pam, with the support of her husband and family, changed careers and her passion, to focus on Children. She started this new chapter by working with New Hampshires Division of Children, Youth and Family Services, where she worked for thirteen years with children and their foster families. Once again she furthered her education by receiving her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Services.
Pams love of helping others was not just for children and families; she also loved cats and opened the home she shared with Richard to all the neighborhood strays and adopted the majority of them.
Pam enjoyed photo taking, cooking, reading and the well being of others.
Pam is survived by her husband, Richard E. Houghton of Woodsville; her sisters Jewel Nelson and her husband, Neal of Lisbon, Paulina Garceau, of Littleton, Melody Hawkins, of Rutland VT: her brothers, Seth S. Lyndes, Jr. and his wife, Arlene of Woodsville, Kim Lyndes and his wife, Lurette of Lyman; her mother-in-law, Muriel Houghton; a brother-in-law, Lee and his wife, Sylvia Houghton, all of St. Johnsbury VT; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces. Her parents, Seth and Viola and a brother, Stanley K. Lyndes predeceased Pam.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Woodsville Fire and Rescue, Route 10, Woodsville, NH 03785.
