Pansy Fern Pebbles (Hoyt) passed away peacefully on the evening of March 19, 2025, with family by her side at the age of 99.
Born on June 14, 1925, in Franklin, NH, to Carrie Keniston and Franklin D. Hoyt. Pansy was raised in Franklin with her sisters (Louise Barney and Betty Coreau) and brothers (Albert Hoyt and Bob Hoyt) before settling in Concord, NH, where she spent much of her life. Pansy was the beloved wife of the late Carl James Pebbles II. Together, they raised their children—Robert Pebbles of Concord, NH, Carol Hegarty and her husband Thomas of South Hampton, NH, and Carrie Murphy and her husband Tom of Penacook, NH. Pansy was predeceased by her children Carl J. Pebbles III and Margaret "Peggy" Allquist, her grandchildren Robert Pebbles II and Melissa Pebbles, and her daughter-in-law Rose Pebbles. Pansy is survived by her son-in-law Fraser Allquist of Concord, and daughter-in-law Julie Pebbles of Lancaster, NH, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Fraser Allquist Jr, Faye Allquist, Jennifer Pebbles, Mary Testa, Carl J. Pebbles IV, and Patricia Hegarty, along with her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pansy graduated from the New Hampshire State Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 and passed her Boards in 1947. Pansy’s career as a labor and delivery nurse at Concord Hospital spanned 50 years. Pansy dedicated her life to caring for others, assisting countless families as they welcomed their newborns into the world. Known for her compassion, skill and unforgettable name, Pansy Pebbles was a treasured member of the nursing community and remains fondly remembered by her colleagues and patients alike. Pansy retired from Concord Hospital at the age of 70, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and care. There is a bench honoring Pansy at Concord Hospital.
In her personal life, Pansy was a devoted and generous mother and grandmother, finding joy in every moment spent with her family. She and Carl spent many summers at their beloved camp on Plum Island, MA, where they enjoyed the beach, friends, boating and seafood. Together they made memories that would last a lifetime. Pansy enjoyed the simple things and never needed or asked for anything. She loved bowling and was involved in a local bowling league for many years. Pansy enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, always had a sewing project, often a quilt or knitting a blanket for someone, and enjoyed chatting while putting a puzzle together. Many of her family members will treasure the quilts and blankets she lovingly made for them.
In 2004, Pansy moved to White Rock in Bow, NH, where she quickly became a beloved figure in her building. As the unofficial building coordinator, she welcomed new neighbors with her warmth and kindness. Pansy began organizing monthly dinners for the residents in her building and ensured that coffee and pastries were ready every morning in the common area. Her generous spirit and dedication to bringing people together will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Pansy’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love, care, and kindness will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Granite Visiting Nurses in Pansy’s name. A celebration of Pansy’s life will be held at a later time.
