Patricia G. (Garcia) Villanueva, 95, of Bedford, passed away on May 9, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
She was born in Zambales, Philippines on May 23, 1927. Earlier in her life, she worked for John Hancock Insurance in Boston and then at Concord Hospital.
Patricia was affectionately called Pat, Nana, or Lola. She lived very independently up until the end and enjoyed taking care of her apartment and cats and most of all her family. She was a constant quiet presence of love and comfort to everyone, and nothing was better than falling asleep on her couch and awaking to find she had covered you with a blanket. Among many things, her laugh and smile are already missed. Pat was beautiful, and she created so much beauty around her by planting or caring for plants and flowers, by dressing fabulously, and by keeping her apartment comfortable for everyone and showcasing all of her favorite photographs.
A lifetime devoted Catholic, Pat found comfort in her love of God and God’s love of her. She enjoyed Sunday mass and especially loved dressing up for Easter. Her humility and grace were both her natural state of being as well as part of her religious belief in putting others before self.
Pat made delicious food, especially fried rice, putu, lo mein noodles, and arroz caldo on New Year’s. She could always be depended on for having backups of all paper products, especially napkins. You could also depend on her having “the game” on whenever Boston teams were playing, especially the Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and the Patriots.
Family members include her daughter, Beverly Testarmata and her husband Joel of Bedford; two granddaughters, Kerry (Flannery) Demarest and her husband Jason of Spencer, NY and Erin (Flannery) Bourassa and her husband Jerry of Goffstown; and a great granddaughter, Maggay Mae Bourassa. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Francisco Villanueva.
