Paul A. Pouliot, 71, of Somersworth, passed away on January 23, 2011 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover.
He was born in Manchester on January 24, 1940, the son of Leonce and Lillian (Senneville) Pouliot. He attended the seminary in Ottawa, Canada and was ordained as a Catholic Priest in 1966. He served the Diocese of Manchester for 21 years. In 1984 he went on a leave of absence from the priesthood at his request and with permission of the Bishop. He then began working for Coast Transportation Company in Dover until his retirement last year. He enjoyed carpentry, furniture making, and loved to travel. He was a supporter of the American Indian movement and the Council of Native Americans.
Family members include three brothers, Andre Pouliot of Germany, Charles Pouliot of Goffstown, and Gerard Pouliot of MI; four sisters, Lorraine Gagne of Rochester, Sister Claire Pouliot of Portland, ME, Monique Fox of Antrim, and Denise Aiken of Londonderry; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 in St. Catherine Church. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.
