SHAW, Paul Agassiz, Jr, 84, of Littleton, NH passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Newton, MA, son of the late Paul Agassiz Shaw and Betty Pope Shaw.
He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in forestry and went on to enjoy a 39-year career with the U.S. Forest Service. After his retirement, he served as the assistant coach for the Littleton High School girls tennis team for many years during which he was affectionately known as "Papa Shaw." He and the family dogs, Kerry Blue Terrier "Missey" and Great Dane "Diabo," were inseparable friends.
Paul is predeceased by his loving wives Flora Reynolds Shaw and Joan Barker Shaw, and brother Winston Shaw.
He is survived by his six children and their spouses, Lucy and Paul Van Hollebeke of Waterbury, VT, Jeanne and David Brown of Goffstown, NH, Paul Shaw and Karen Sullivan of Erie, CO, Robert and Kate Shaw of Thornton, NH, Joan and Kirk Kanya of Pembroke, MA, and Suzanne and Chris Jaynes of Saratoga Springs, NY; aunt Lucy Hopman; brothers Robert Shaw (wife Molly) and Frederic Shaw (wife Pat), as well as thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Pillsbury-Phaneuf Funeral Home, 101 Union St, Littleton on Monday, April 16th from 4:30-6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 17th at St. Rose of Lima church, 77 Clay St, Littleton at 11 AM. A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave, Jamaica Plain, MA on April 18th at 2 PM. Friends and family are respectfully invited.
