With broken hearts, we sorrowfully announce the passing of Paul A. Varkas, 62, of Manchester, NH, the son of William and Beatrice Varkas, father of Lara Varkas, and brother of Elizabeth Varkas. Raised in Manchester, he attended local schools. After graduating from Central High School in 1980, he pursued his lifelong passion as an automotive technician. He earned his Master Mechanic License, completed ASE certifications, and owned an automotive repair business. Throughout the years, we often saw Paul driving around town in his beloved Porsche 928 with the license plate “Zeus,” a nod to his strong Greek heritage and pride.
Paul was someone you always remembered, whether it was a quick conversation with a stranger, a lifelong friend, or a family member. His intelligence shone through in his passion for diagnosing and fixing cars. He became a top-tier Porsche technician and was always willing to help a friend with car issues. He often graced us with sudden acts of generosity, a radiant smile, his sense of humor, or sometimes an “I love you” and a big hug. He loved guns, old movies, and especially animals, always ready to take care of any in need of food, warmth, or love. His daughter, Lara, was his pride and joy, no one was more important to him than his little girl. Paul loved his parents dearly and cared for them personally when they became elderly, without concern for the personal sacrifice he was making.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, William and Beatrice (Alexiou) Varkas. He has left an indelible mark on the lives of his family and will be greatly missed. We will never forget him. May his memory be eternal.
