Pauline was born on May 5th, 1932, in Lowell, Massachusetts to Arthur Armand and Alice Irene (Bergeron D'Amboise) Leclerc. She was baptized at the Ste-Jeanne d'Arc church in Lowell. Her father, a native of Manchester, NH, was employed in Lowell for a short time where he met and married Alice and returned to Manchester where the rest of Pauline's siblings were born.
A descendent of French immigrants, Pauline's ancestors emigrated from several areas in Quebec, Canada. Her parents and grandparents worked in many of the textile and shoe making mills in both Lowell and Manchester. Over time, they also established businesses and ran farms. She had a long nursing career starting at what was the old Boston City Hospital and ending at what was the Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers, Ma. She then used her medical knowledge in the employ of Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Utilization Review Nurse. In their employ, she enjoyed travelling to the various hospitals under her purview.
While raising a family with Clifford, they moved to Boston and then lived in many Massachusetts communities including Mattapan, Alston, Easton, Needham, West Peabody and Beverly. It was in Beverly that they built a new home, raised their children and worked in the area.
