Peter J. Fontaine

Peter J. Fontaine, 70, of Standish, ME, formerly of Boscawen and Epsom, NH passed away at home on Friday, November 12, 2021 from a long period of declining health. He was born on July 24, 1951, in Concord, NH, a son of the late Esther and Philip Fontaine. Raised in Penacook, NH, he graduated from Merrimack Valley High School, class of 1969, participated in baseball, basketball, and soccer, and later attended New Hampshire Technical College in Laconia. In 1973 Pete married his wife of 48 years, Susan (York) Fontaine. They raised their three children In Boscawen. He enjoyed attending his childrens' many sporting events, most recently his granddaughter Hailey's softball games, and was so proud of them all. He got much satisfaction from building, remodeling, and restoration projects at homes he owned through the years. There was rarely anything he wasn't able to fix or repair around the house. He worked as a lineman for Unitil/Concord Electric for 38 years before retiring in 2006. After retiring, He spent several years in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, FL enjoying boating and fishing in Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande. Pete moved to Maine in 2016. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Amy Fontaine and granddaughter Hailey of Cape Elizabeth, ME, two sons, Stephen Fontaine of Miami, FL and Matthew Fontaine of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a brother, Mark Fontaine and his wife Patty of Boscawen, NH; three sisters, Karen Watson of Bow, NH, Mary Bronnenberg and her husband Jack of Hillsboro, NH, and Patti Thibeault of Lee, NH; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting hours will be held from 4 - 7 pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King St., Boscawen, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
