Philomene Pheno M. (Forbes) Farley, 87, of Manchester, died July 12, 2004 in Hampton at the summer home of her son. She was born in Caraquet, NB, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Alma (Michon) Forbes. As a young child, she moved to Manchester to live with her maternal grandmother, Philomene Corriveau. She attended local schools and worked in various shoe factories, including Davis Shoe, Fleischer Shoe and Bee Bee Shoe. She was one of the first female cab drivers in the city during World War II. She was the widow of Louis Farley who died in 1982. Family members include her son, Louis Farley of Manchester; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; a half brother, Albert Forbes of New Brunswick, Canada; four half sisters, Marie-Ann Bonneau, Eva Thereault, Cecile Boudreau and Dorina Couture, all of Canada; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. In Her Life: She loved to spend time with her family, especially her three grandsons, Michael and Daniel of Manchester and Kevin of Candia. She also had a special place in her heart for her only daughter-in-law, Joanne K. Farley. Although she worked all her adult life, she always had time to baby-sit, first for her grandchildren and later for her great grandchildren. Sickness prevented her from this pleasure with her great-great grandson. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 in St. Patrick Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
