Phyllis Amelia Smart

Phyllis A. (Rawnsley) Smart, 94 of Manchester, NH, formerly of Lowell, MA passed away on September 12, 2014 at The Manor at Birch Hill Terrace in Manchester. She was born on November 14, 1919 in Lowell, daughter of the late George and Jenny (Wilson) Rawnsley.

After retiring from the North Billerica Company, Phyllis volunteered for the Open Pantry and the Central United Methodist Church in Lowell for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society and loved to read but most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Beloved wife of the late G. Arthur Smart with whom she spent 69 years of marriage before he passed away in 2012. Loving mother of Phillip A. Smart and his wife Pamela of Bedford, NH, and Dale A. Smart and his wife Elaine of Sailsbury, NC. Devoted grandmother of Douglas Smart and his wife Christine, Lindsey (Smart) Babcock and her husband Kaleb, and her great-granddaughter Helena Rose Smart, all of Manchester.

In lieu of flowers donation in Phyllis' memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell at Hicks Farm, 124 Main St. Westford, MA 01886.

Family and friends will honor and remember Phyllis' life by gathering on Sunday, September 21st, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM in the Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. (corner of Union St.) A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be private.
