PIERRE PHILLIP XAVIER LAFITTE
LITTLETON, NH -- Pierre Phillip Xavier Lafitte, age 70, passed away September 24, 2016 at Littleton Regional Hospital.
Pierre was born January 22, 1946 in New York to parents of Parisian decent. He resided in Littleton, NH for 47 years and was a teacher at Littleton Daisy Bronson Middle School for 41 years.
Pierre is well-known for his love of teaching and dedication to his students as a coach, mentor, teacher, and father figure to many. His unique teaching style and zest for life made learning an enjoyable and memorable experience. There isn't a home in the town of Littleton that wasn't touched by him in some way.
Pierre enjoyed dedicating his time to the community and organizations promoting the growth and education of the young people in Littleton. He was the Littleton Park Commissioner for 2 years and created the Parks and Recreation program back in 1981.
Pierre was a true lover of all things athletic. He was a member of the NH Baseball Association for 50 years and the NH Softball Association for 38 years. He was a NH Softball Umpires Association Hall of Fame member, NHIAA Softball Committee member and NHSUA Supervisor of Officials, Softball Assignor of Officials and the past president of NHSUA. As a Class M Girls Basketball coach, he won the State Championship three consecutive years from 1981-1984. He is a two time recipient of the Class M Coach of the Year Award and was awarded the New Hampshire State Coach of the Year Award from the New Hampshire Coaches Association.
He is also well-known for his 31 years of broadcasting Littleton sports for WLTN. Pierre is a two-time recipient of the Golden Mic Award from the NH Association of Broadcasters. He received the John Clark Award for officiating and the James Desmarais Service Award.
Friends were always encouraged to drop in and visit, everyone always felt welcome in his presence. He will be remembered for his witty jokes, contagious laugh, the love for his family and grandchildren, and of course his garden and tomatoes.
He is survived by his loving wife Denise Lafitte, his two daughters, Danielle Cook and Janine Gilboy, and his son Jon Pierre Lafitte as well as his seven grandchildren; Emma, Gavin, Nicolas, Camden, Keira, Reece and Jackson. He is also survived by his brother, Michel Couret of Merrimack NH.
SERVICES â A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Church with the Very Reverend Mark Dollard as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Rose Cemetery.
