Pierrette B. Potter

Pierrette B. Potter, 77, of Nashua, passed away on July 6, 2020, from complications of COPD.

"Pete", as she was called by her friends and family, was born on September 2, 1942 in Asbestos, Quebec, Canada. After moving to the United States with her family, she enjoyed a long career at the Modern Restaurant in Nashua, from 1967 until the day they closed in 2001. An avid watcher of television, Pete enjoyed The Carol Burnett Show, Miami Vice, and her all-time favorite, General Hospital. Lord help us if a special report interrupted General Hospital. Flagrant and colorful words, in English and French, would pour forth from her mouth on those occasions. She loved her TV shows and didn't want them interrupted. Later in life, she came to enjoy reading, especially as it was much less likely to be interrupted by anything.

Her sarcasm, and her ability to complain about even the most fun things, was one of her trademarks. At family events, Pete would always let the family know that she was only there because she had to be (even if secretly she enjoyed everyone's company). If she wasn't cranky, she wasn't happy. Despite her expert skill at being the 'fun' one at any event, she was loved dearly by her friends and family. And secretly she loved them back but didn't like to express it openly. She had an image to maintain after all.

Pierrette is survived by her son Kevin and his wife Laura of Milford; her siblings Jean-Guy, Jacques, Gilles, Gaetan, Yvan, Francoise, Ghislaine, Rene, their spouses, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Gerard and Jeannette, brother Denis and sisters, Diane, and Celine.

A gathering will be held to celebrate her life at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Thursday July 16th from 1 to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her name to either the American Lung Association or the Humane Society of Greater Nashua.
