Preston H. Lawrance Jr. of Loudon, NH passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. He was 68 years old.
Preston was born on January 13, 1949, at Selfridge Field Air Force Base in Michigan to Major Preston H. Lawrance and Phyllis (Senker) Lawrance. He attended elementary school in Anchorage, Alaska, and Middle and High School in Lakewood, Washington. He graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 1967 and was on the varsity hockey team. He graduated from Castleton State College with a B.S. in Business Education in 1971.
Preston was married in 1971 to Virginia Cole of Shelburne, VT, and has two surviving daughters, Jennifer Mott McKernan and husband Christopher, along with grandsons Cole and Quinlan, of Beverly Farms, MA; Emily Alma Louise Martel and husband Darrell of Candia, NH; sister Pamela Coyne and husband Paul of Norcross, GA; brother Ron and wife Ann of White River Jct. VT; brother Robert of St. Albans, VT; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. On August 10, 2002, Preston married his surviving wife, Karen Holloway.
Preston founded Lawrance Direct LLC., in Manchester, NH in 1993, specializing in mailing lists and commercial and promotional printing services. Proforma Piper Printing of Tilton acquired Lawrance Direct in December of 2015, where Preston was currently employed.
Preston was a man of deep faith and attended Faith Community Bible Church in Loudon, NH. He served many agencies and was a Major in the Civil Air Patrol Concord Squadron. Preston volunteered weekly at the VA Medical Center in Manchester and the Manchester Chamber of Commerce for many more years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Association. Preston has visited Hackett Hill Nursing Home regularly since 2003. He committed himself as a mentor for Josh Vallaincourt through Big Brothers of Manchester for many years. Recently he was honored to be the Board Chair for the Global War on Terror Memorial at the military cemetery in Boscawen, NH, which was dedicated on 5/31/16. Preston lived out his faith by serving others, his family, and our veterans. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who crossed his path.
A Memorial Service for Preston will be held on Saturday, September 9, at 2:30PM with a reception following at the Faith Community Bible Church at 334 North Village Road in Loudon, NH. A viewing will be held in the church at 1:30. All are welcome to come and celebrate Preston's life with family and friends. Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements.
