Rachel C. Caron, 89, of Auburn and formerly of Nashua died July 1, 2004 at Elliot Hospital following a period of declining health. Rachel was born on April 29, 1915 in Derry, NH the daughter of the late Elzear and Flora (Levesque) Caron. She grew up in Nashua, attended local schools and graduated Valedictorian 1937 from UNH. She taught languages for a brief period of time and then spent thirty years as a railroad traffic controller with Penn Central. Rachel enjoyed a love of gardening and children. She was a mentor, mother and friend to many. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Caron and Roger Caron. Two sisters, Dorothy Beaudoin and Lucille MacKay. Two nieces, Jane Northup, and Joanne Hayes, and her long time companion, Arthur T. St. Francois. Family members include; one brother, Raymond Caron of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one sister, Theresa Northup of Pensacola, FL; six nieces, Rachael Caron with whom she lived of Auburn, NH, Barbara Whalen of Shrewsbury, MA, Pamela Roberge of Merrimack, NH Bonnie Bradford of Essex, MA, Rebecca Northup and Susan Shimel ; four nephews, Ralph E. Beaudoin of Raymond, NH, Richard Northup of Katy, Texas, Peter Beaudoin of Manchester and John Caron of East Andover ME; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. There will be a Graveside Service on Saturday, July 17 at 10:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made to the NH Children’s Trust Fund, 91 N. State Street, Concord, NH 03301. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
