Ralph W. Cate, Jr.

Ralph “Buz” Willis Cate Jr., 73, passed away on January 13, 2025, after a long illness. Born on September 11, 1951, Buz grew up in Penacook, New Hampshire, where he made lifelong memories and friendships. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Sr. and June Cate, as well as his cherished sisters, Joyce Spaulding and Janet Annon.

Buz is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Julie Dangelo Cate, who was his steadfast partner and greatest joy. He also leaves behind several sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who will fondly remember him.

 A proud graduate of Merrimack Valley High School, Buz continued his education at the University of New Hampshire. Known for his love of sports and camaraderie, he enjoyed many spirited years playing in the Concord Men’s Softball League. Buz was also a passionate member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA), the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the SMFG, dedicating countless hours to building, shooting, and competing with traditional firearms—one of his greatest passions.

 After retiring, Buz continued to serve his community as a Court Security Officer in the New Hampshire court system, stationed in Franklin, where he was admired for his professionalism and kindness.

 Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King St., Boscawen, NH 03303.

 In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Buz’s memory to the Pope Memorial SPCA. 

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
