Ray Mee
Ray Thurman Mee, 79, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Elliot Hospital, with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Sanford, ME, he was the son of the late Norman Mee, Sr. and M. Gertrude (Bond) Mee. Raised and educated in Maine, Ray worked as a truck driver for several years. Prior to retirement, he worked in the Maintenance Dept. at the Raymond Walmart Distribution Center.
An honorably discharged veteran, Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army in both Germany and Korea.
A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Ray was the pillar of strength for his family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed long walks, hiking, fishing, and hunting. In his spare time, Ray loved to listen to country music and watch NASCAR. A kind and humble man, Ray and his wife, Gail, enjoyed cooking together and being social with their dear friends. Ray will be best remembered for his love of family.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Gail (Cochrane) Mee, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage; three daughters, Brenda Mee of Rochester, Meredith Leavitt and husband Salvatore Palermo of Hooksett, and Deborah Stratton and husband Paul of Manchester; four grandchildren, Harper Leavitt, Joshua Stratton, Ashley Stratton, and Jessica Gagne and husband Donald; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Winn of West Newfield, ME, and Carol Sawtelle of Kittery, ME; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his two brothers, Norman Mee, Jr., and William Mee; twin sister, Ruth Dennis; and grandson, Daniel Mee.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ray's name to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102; New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 626, Concord, NH 03302; or the VNA of Manchester and Southern NH, 1070 Holt Ave # 4, Manchester, NH 03109.
