Raymond E. Babel

Raymond E. Babel, 71, of 175 Chestnut Street, died November 21, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born on July 27, 1929 in Manchester, the son of Edwin and Ethel (Brooks) Babel, Sr., and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He was a Korean War Veteran. He worked at Crystal Cleaners for many years. He was very active with the Crotched Mountain Foster Grandparents Program and was also an avid bowler. He was the widower of Marguerite (Descheneau) (Loveday) (Bussiere) Babel who died in 1997. Family members include three stepsons, James Loveday of Manchester, Thomas Loveday of New Boston, and John Loveday of Manchester; one stepdaughter, Peggy Colon of Milford; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Babel, Jr., of Goffstown; a sister, Gloria Auclair of FL; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will take place on Wednesday from 11:30 to 12:30 at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Urn burial will take place at St. Augustin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crotched Mountain Foster Grandparents Program, 1361 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
