Raymond A. Desfosses, 77, of 41 Moreau Street, Goffstown, died May 10, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Manchester on August 5, 1925, the son of Lucien and Antoinette (Marcotte) Desfosses and had been a Goffstown resident for the past 47 years. He was a 1943 graduate of West High School and served in the Navy during World War II. He also served in the Air National Guard at Pease Air Force Base for a number of years. He worked for Chicopee Manufacturing Company for 28 years and later worked as a civil engineer at Pease. He also owned his own small business, Polar Refrigeration and concluded his career as a federal government GSA supervisor at the Norris Cotton Federal Office Building. A renowned storyteller, Raymond wrote a popular feature for the American-Canadian Genealogist titled, "Les Bon Vieux Temps" for many years and contributed to several other local publications. He was an assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 102, was a director of the Pinardville Athletic Club and held various positions with the American-Canadian Genealogical Society. He was an avid bird enthusiast and enjoyed watching, feeding and photographing birds in his yard. Family members include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Herderson) Desfosses; three sons, Daniel Desfosses of Fogelsville, PA, Leslie Desfosses of Hartford, CT and Gary Desfosses of Bedford; a daughter, Celeste Matras of Dunbarton; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters. Marguerite Bedard of Goffstown and Claire Thomas of Manchster; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
