Raymond Joseph Morin

Raymond J. Morin, 95, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Raymond was born in Winchendon, MA on March 25, 1930, the son of William J. and Alice (Martel) Morin and Stepson of Eva (Letendre) Morin.

Raymond was educated at Manchester West High School, NH College of Accounting and Finance, and St Anselm College where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1958. Raymond was a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma and was one of three members of his class to graduate Summa Cum Laude. He finished his education at Boston College where he attended two years of post-graduate education.

Raymond met the love of his life Lucille C. (Chartrain) in Manchester who he married on October 12, 1950, and remained married to Lucille for 67 years until her passing on Feb 23, 2018. Raymond and Lucille relocated to California in 1952 while Raymond was in the US Army. During the Korean War they moved to Tacoma, WA in 1953 where they met lifelong friends. In 1954, they relocated back to Manchester when Raymond was honorably discharged as a Sergeant Major. Once back in civilian life, Raymond returned to work at Mack Trucks Inc. where he had started employment in 1947 and became the Branch Office Manager until 1969. In 1969, Raymond became Executive Vice President for Maine Mack Inc. starting in Bangor and moving to Portland in 1970. He continued as Executive VP for Maine Mack and took on the roles of Executive VP for Connell Diesel and Electrical, and Trans Bus of America which distributed Mercedes and Steyr buses throughout the US. He remained with Maine Mack until his retirement to become President International for the Richelieu Club. Raymond was with Mack Trucks for 53 years and always considered the bulldog his brand.

His association with the Richelieu club began in 1969 with the Manchester, NH club and continued for the remainder of his life. He was an active member of the Biddeford Club starting in 1982 becoming President of the Club, Governor for the Northeast Region, Administrator for the United States and culminating in becoming President International for 1997-1998. The years traveling to club conferences and meeting friends were some of the most exciting and fun times of Lucille and Raymond's life. Raymond was also a Knight of the order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.

Raymond and Lucille started their family in 1962 when their first child William was born followed by their daughter Elise in 1964. Throughout their lives family and friends were always a major source of happiness and enjoyment along with their love of travel. During their lives both Raymond and Lucille visited such places as Eastern and Western Europe, Australia, Brazil, Hawaii several times, Alaska, the Caribbean, and Canada. One of their most memorable trips was visiting St. Petersburg and taking a cruise down the Volga to Moscow. During their retirement they spent 20 winters together at Breezy Hill Park in Deerfield Beach, Florida where they had many great friends, and Raymond laughingly took over running the bean bag baseball event which he did because he wasn’t good at playing it and he spoke fluent English and French. After Lucille’s passing Raymond spent the last 7 seasons in Bonita Beach, FL at the Sanctuary Park where he met several loving friends which kept him busy with bingo, poker, trivial pursuit and of course, Bridge which he learned relatively late in life but became a serious passion of his in both Maine and Florida. Lucille and Raymond always had a love of playing cards and would play for hours on end by themselves or with friends. The story of Raymond and Lucille’s life is one of family and friends with laughter and joy. Two of their greatest friends, George and Irene Fredette, met Raymond and Lucille in grade school and have remained friends to this day. The friends they made in Tacoma in 1953, Margie Jelic and Elsie Jerkovich, always keep in touch as well as in Yarmouth, Connie and Jack Hildreth, were constant companions.

Raymond is survived by his son William Edgar Morin, daughter Elise Marie Morin and several nieces and nephews. They had several god children Denise (Poisson) Paradise, Mona (Blanchette) Breitrick, Anthony Jelic, Raymond Labore and Diane (Martel) Ganeus. In addition to his parents Raymond was predeceased by his brothers William J. Morin who was killed in WWII in Vela Vela in the South Pacific, Donald A Morin, his sisters Doris Blanchette, and Muriel Labore who all recently passed away in recent years.

Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Wednesday, April 9th from 4 pm - 7 pm at Lindquist Funeral Home (1 Mayberry Lane Yarmouth, Maine) and on Thursday April 10th from 4 pm - 7 pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium (243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 11th at 11 am at Parish of the Transfiguration (305 Kelley Street Manchester, NH). Committal services will follow in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
