Raymond John Palys

Raymond J. Palys, 46, of Merrimack, NH died January 12, 2009 at his home in Merrimack.

He was born on December 7, 1961 in Manchester, NH the son of Claire (Soucy) Palys of Hooksett and the late Joseph Frank Palys, who died in February 1975. He was educated at St. John the Baptist School in Manchester and graduated from West High School.

Raymond was a resident of Merrimack for the past 25 years. Previously he lived in Manchester. While in high school his first job was at Catholic Medical Center and later he was Supervisor of Food Services at the Elliot Hospital. Raymond later went on to own and operate his own gas station, Merrimack Getty in Merrimack, for several years. Most recently he worked for Johnston Flooring installing hardwood floors.

He enjoyed cooking, loved Mount Washington and was a member of the Mt. Washington Observatory Society. Ray also enjoyed traveling to Aruba on several occasions and to Canada. He always dreamed of owning his own farm up north where he could live with his family. Ray was a kind man, helping the elderly with errands and just checking in on them.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Francis Palys of So. Portland, ME; Robert Palys of Hooksett; Roger Palys of Avondale Estates, GA; Alfred Palys of Manchester; James Palys of Weare; sisters, Agnes McLean of San Antonio, TX; Marie Carothers of Goffstown; Irene Mercier of West Palm Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In His Life: He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Jane, who died in February 2007.

Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester on Thursday from 1-3 PM. His Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at the Puritan Backroom on the D.W. Highway immediately following the services.
