Raymond “Scott” Estey, 60, of Concord, NH, passed away quietly at home following a brief illness on November 8, 2024.
Scott was born in Concord, NH on May 4, 1964, to Donald and Marianne (Otis) Estey. He was educated locally and enjoyed a career in the kitchen at Concord Hospital that spanned more than 20 years.
Following his time preparing meals for hospital patrons, patients, and staff, Scott went on to work for Green Mountain Recovery where he proudly served as their Operations Supervisor for four years.
Working with people in recovery and supporting those in the AA community was a huge part of his life and a central part of his identity. He became immersed in the day-to-day operations of The Homestead Inn where he continued his service to people in recovery and spent nearly a decade developing lasting relationships that more closely resembled that of family as opposed to staff and client.
Scott enjoyed camping and fishing, visiting the beach, and being outdoors whenever possible. He checked off one of his Bucket List items this past March when he and a group of seven friends traveled to San Diego so that he could put his toes in the water of the Pacific Ocean. Regardless of his actual mood, Scott sported a mean “RBF”, and also possessed a wonderfully dry sense of humor that was on full display during near-constant affectionate bickering with his best friend, Rob Allinson.
Scott is survived by his daughters Ashley Estey, Brittany Estey, and Briana Estey; his mother, Marianne (Otis) Estey; brother Kenneth Estey; sister Kimberly Bisson; his former wife, Wendy (Thibeault) Caldwell; grandchildren Connor, Aubrey, Brady, and Jaxson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family; his best friend and caretaker Rob Allinson; and countless dear friends whom he considered family. He was predeceased by his father Donald Estey, his brother Kevin Estey, and his aunt Sharon (Estey) Wojcik, with whom he shared a special bond.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, November 14th, 12:30-2:30pm, with an opportunity for guests to share thoughts and remembrances at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Burial will follow immediately at Contoocook Village Cemetery on Main Street in Contoocook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Homestead Inn, 188 King Street, Boscawen, 03303.
