Rene A. Martel

Rene A. Martel, 84, of Litchfield, NH died Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. He was the husband of the late Jeannette L. (Noel) Martel.

He was born on December 27, 1935 in Manchester and was the son of the late Donat and Matilda (Shank) Martel. Rene was enlisted in the U. S. Army from 1954 until 1957 when he was honorably discharged. He worked for many years as a Union Laborer for the Local 668.

In his spare time, he enjoyed running and participated in many 5k and 10k races. He also liked farming, but above all his family was everything to him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his four children, Marc Martel of Litchfield, Cathleen LaPlante of Milford, Claire Helie of Litchfield and Lynn Hanks of Nashua; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Sampson of Auburn and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Romeo and Raymond Martel.

A Memorial Gathering for Rene will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Manchester on Thursday, January 16th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rene's memory to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd, Merrimack, NH 03054.
