Richard Edward Adams Sr., 72, of Andover, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in the comfort and safety of his own home with his loving family at his side.
Richard was born in Franklin, NH on February 11, 1946 to Roland E and Eleanor (Beckfold) Adams and was a graduate of Franklin High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1965 and proudly served on the USS PRAIRIE. He married Betty Lou (Shampney) on October 8, 1966 and the two would go on to enjoy 51 wonderful years together. Upon honorable discharge from the Navy in 1969, Richard took a job at Public Service Co. of NH where he worked for 35 years as a Control Board Operator.
In his spare time Richard enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley with his wife, and attending and watching NASCAR racing. He was member of the Harley Dresser Association and proud lifetime member and supporter of the NRA. He loved his family and country with great passion.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Betty Adams; sons, Richard Adams Jr. and his wife Carol, and Chester Adams and his wife Kitty; grandchildren Danielle, Haley and Delana; and step-grandchildren Helena, Chris and Hannah. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Adams and sisters, Beverly Mudgett and Betty Gene Adams.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors held Monday, August 13th at 11:30am at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
