Richard J. Belanger, 73, of 10 Johnson Street, Bedford, died Wednesday November 13, 2007 at Ridgewood Center in Bedford. He was born in Manchester on January 29, 1934, the son of George and Adeline (Roukey) Belanger and had been a resident of the area for most of his life. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War. After that he served in the United States Air Force for six years. He had worked as a branch manager for Red Star Yeast. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Association and was ranked #2 in New England for many years. He was the widower of Lois (Berthiume) Belanger who died in February of this year. Family members include three daughters, Deborah Vachon of Boscawen, Cynthia Dafopoulos of Auburn, Tina Klein of Pittsfield, MA; a son, Richard Belanger, Jr. of Pittsfield, MA; a step-daughter, Judi Arasi of MA; three step-sons, Francis Lambert, Jr., of Newport, Henry Lambert of Manchester, and Timothy Lambert of Barnstead; 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; five sisters, Elizabeth Sundeen of Manchester, Eileen Chaput of Candia, Dorothy Dalmangas of Manchester, Shirley Deshaies of Manchester and Denise Champagne of FL; four brothers, Joseph Belanger of Manchester, Donald Belanger of New Boston, Robert Belanger of Manchester and Raymond Belanger of Hillsboro; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 10:30. A committal service with military honors will follow at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
