Richard H. Boivin, formerly of Worcester, MA and Largo, FL, passed away on October 4, 2026 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, after a sudden illness. Richard recently returned to NH to be closer to his family and passed peacefully with loving family at his side. He was 87.
Born on March 22, 1939, in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Henri and Marie (St. Jean) Boivin. Richard built a life marked by faith, hard work, and devotion to his family. For most of his career, he worked as an oil burner technician, a job he truly loved. Through his years of work, he made many friends and valued colleagues. He concluded his career at the UMass Medical Power Plant.
Richard took great joy in simple and lasting pleasures. He loved spending his summers at Tidewater Campground in Hampton, NH, for more than 50 years and made many memories there. He was also someone who loved fixing things, always ready to put his hands to work. His faith was a guiding part of his life. Richard was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, a devout Catholic throughout his life, and a devoted member of St. Jerome Parish in Largo, Florida.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Helen (Lavoie) Boivin, and by his sister, Georgette Ghiz.
He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his son, Steven Boivin and his wife, Robin. He also leaves his grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary; sister, Jeannine Sacco, and her husband, Francis; brother-in-law, Louis Lavoie, and his wife, Marie Edna; and his brother-in-law, Alvin Lavoie, and his wife, Cecile, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
His family extends special thanks to the caring and wonderful staff at St. Joseph Hospital and the Rehab Unit for the excellent care they provided to Richard during his time there.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy, 16 Baboosic Lake Rd, Merrimack, NH. Burial will follow on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St, Worcester, MA.
