Richard James Jim Chretien, 71, of 1015 Merrill Street, died September 9, 2004 at the Maple Leaf Health Care Center. He was born in Haverhill, NH on June 21, 1933, the son of Emile and Annette (Gingras) Chretien and had been a New Hampshire resident for most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran during the Korean War. For most of his career, he was a steam engineer, serving aboard oil tankers for Exxon. He enjoyed boating and sailing. Family members include as daughter, Luann St. Onge of Manchester; a son, Alexander Chretien of New Hampshire; two grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and cousins. After cremation, a private service follow by ocean scattering will be held at the convenience of the family. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
