Richard J. Coffin (Dick), 90, of Derry (formerly of Everett MA) died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 following a period of declining health.

Dick was born in Somerville, MA August 12, 1929 to Alfred and Dorothy Coffin. He had three children during his first marriage. He married Betty (Bigwood) Pippy in 1968 and they lived in Everett, MA where they raised three daughters. Following Betty's death in September of 2003, Dick moved into the family home in Melrose with his brother, Robert, and stayed on at the home for several years after Bob's passing in 2006. In 2015 Dick moved to The Birch Heights in Derry, and eventually transferred to Hanover Hill Healthcare in Manchester in 2019 where he remained until his own passing.

Richard proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and enjoyed a rewarding career in Logistics Management until retiring from Arco Welding in Malden in 1995.

He enjoyed traveling between his home in Everett MA and his cottage on Sunset Lake in Hampstead, NH which has been in the family for over 50 years. It was his favorite place where he was always surrounded by family and friends. He also enjoyed winters at his home in Cocoa Beach, FL with the companionship of lifelong friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. He loved golf, pool, gambling, and was an avid Bingo player. Even in his later years he could keep track of his bingo cards. He loved his family and particularly enjoyed visits by his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Candace Fisher and her husband Charles of Merrimac MA, Richard Coffin and his wife Julie of Barnstead NH, Donald Coffin of Franklin MA, Joyce Scaccia and her husband Jerome of Oviedo FL, Carrie O'Halloran and her husband Paul of Woburn MA, and Valerie Jenkinson and her husband Jay of Londonderry, NH; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are closed to the public but will be streamed live on the funeral home website. Please contact the family for service time and login information. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation online at www.kidney.org. Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium Manchester NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
