Richard P. Gavoni, SR., 74, of Brattleboro, VT passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 12, 2014 in Brattleboro, VT. He was born in Springfield, MA on July 26, 1940; the son of the late Richard F. and Edith (Betera) Gavoni.

Richard was educated in the Springfield, MA school system, graduating from Springfield Technical High School. He was the owner and operator of Mechanical Insulation Contractors and currently was an innkeeper along with his wife Lynn at The Crosby House in Brattleboro. Richard was a history buff and loved long drives exploring New England's hidden treasures and very long drives exploring America's wonders. His favorite place was Cape Cod where he found great peace fishing and boating on the Atlantic, and was an avid fan and owner of classic and hot rod cars. He loved reading and studying the Bible in groups and on his own and would text daily scriptures to his grandchildren.

He is predeceased by a brother, Robert Gavoni.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn M. Kuralt of Brattleboro; Nancy House of Belchertown, MA; and their three children: Cheryl Anne Dennette and her husband Joseph of Granby, MA, Richard P. Gavoni, Jr. and his wife Grace of Ludlow, MA, and Wendy J. Salvador and her husband Jon of Provincetown, MA; eight grandchildren: Joey and Samantha Dennette, Michael, Richard III, and Robert Gavoni, and Jon Adam, Lucas and Zachary Salvador; as well as Lynn's children and grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2 PM at the Windham Community Chapel, 850 U.S. 5, Dummerston, VT 05301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to Focus on the Family, 8605 Explorer Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
