RICHARD C. GIFFORD CONCORD - Richard C. "Dick" Gifford, 84, of Horseshoe Pond Place, longtime resident of Concord, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Concord Hospital. He was born on May 2, 1924, in Buffalo, NY, the son of Carl and May (Wright) Gifford. Dick, as his family and friends knew him, served his country during World War II with the United States Army. He was married to Doris Barasso on June 21, 1980, in Concord. Dick had worked as a credit consultant for over 30 years. In his younger years, Dick enjoyed sailing. Later in life, he enjoyed photography and HAM Radio. His family members include; his wife of 28 years, Doris (Barasso) Gifford of Concord; 2 sons, Jon Gifford of Boulder, CO; and Stephen Gifford of Bethlehem, NH; 2 daughters, Elaine Vanderstok of Cornish; and Amy Gifford of Washington, DC; a stepdaughter, Nancy Daley of Concord; a step-son and his wife, Bob and Jerri Hill, of Bow; 7 grandchildren, a sister, Harriet Gordon, of Hooksett; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gifford was predeceased by his brother, Marshall Gifford. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be Monday, June 9, 10 A.M. at the NH State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 110 D.W. Highway, Rte 3, in Boscawen. The Reverend Douglas Rickard, will office the service. Military honors will follow the service. It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to Liberty House Veterans Shelter, 75 West Baker Street, Manchester, NH 03103, in memory of Mr. Gifford.
