Richard “Dick” Paul Goodbout, 86, passed away on April 29, 2024, after a brief illness with his loving family at his side while on vacation visiting family in North Carolina.
Richard was born in Littleton on February 18, 1938, to Ernest and Delima Goodbout and lived his entire life in Lincoln. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Brenda Stickney.
Richard and Brenda, along with family, owned and operated Goodies Mobil in Lincoln, NH for over 40 years. Richard enjoyed many outdoor sports and was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel with Brenda in their motor home, traversing many parts of the country, visiting friends and family along the way. Richard will always be remembered by the many tales he told, his love of spaghetti, his love of his family, and the many names he went by. He was known by many as, “Goodie”, “Hoss”, “Dickie desert”, Dad, Grampa, and Big Grampa.
He was also a huge racing enthusiast and was able to visit multiple NASCAR races throughout the years. His greatest passion was to follow, support, and watch his grandchildren at their sports, activities and above all, on the racetrack.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, his son, Richard Paul Goodbout Jr. “Richie,” his granddaughter, Megan Goodbout, and his sister Phyllis Landry.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Brenda (Stickney) Goodbout and their children, Rebecca “Becky” Akers and her husband, Stephen of NC, Arthur “Robbie” Goodbout and his wife, Darlene of Woodstock, NH, Cynthia “Cindy” Goodbout of Woodstock, NH, Christopher “Chris” Goodbout and his wife Elizabeth of Thornton, NH, and Jason Goodbout of Lincoln, NH. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Goodbout and his wife, Karen from CT, his sister, Gloria Baker from VT, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A graveside service for Richard will take place at “high noon,” 12PM on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Woodstock Cemetery. He will be laid to rest alongside Richie and Megan. A celebration of life will take place at the at the KOA Campground in Woodstock, NH immediately following his burial. All are invited.
