Richard Leon “Rock” Horrocks, 74, of Litchfield, passed away very peacefully with his wife and family right by his side on May 1, 2024 in his home. He is the loving husband of Diane (Dugre) Horrocks with whom he has shared 51 years of marriage.
Richard was born on July 6, 1949, the son of the late Ronald and Therese (Fregeau) Horrocks. He is one of 5 siblings. In 1969, at the age of 18 he joined the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division, completing one tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon his return, he met the love of his life Diane, and together they began a family.
Richard was a loving and kind person who adored his family. He prioritized spending time with his children, grandchildren, and sisters and above all, loved to plan his family vacations. He was known to have an “engineer’s brain”, always problem solving and tinkering. His wit, humor, and warmth will be missed beyond words by all who knew him.
Along with his wife Diane, Richard is survived by his children, Stacy Prescott and her husband Marc of Amherst, Laurie McPhail and her husband Justin of Barnstead, and Ron Horrocks and his partner David Powers of Manchester; his 7 beloved grandchildren, Makayla Prescott, Morgan Prescott, Alexander Prescott, Aden McPhail, Cora McPhail, Emma Horrocks, and Olivia Horrocks; his sisters, Leona Campbell and Brenda Wharem; and many nieces and nephews.
