Richard P. Mailhot, a beloved husband, father, papa, and friend passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Manchester, NH, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 3, 1952, in Manchester, he spent his life there where he could be close to the family and friends whom he loved the most.
Richard dedicated many years of his career as a supervisor at Kalwall, where his passion for his work allowed him to connect with many colleagues, nurturing lasting friendships. Known for his strong work ethic and his positive spirit, Richard approached each day with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence.
Outside of work, Richard was an active and lifelong member of the Alpine Club in Manchester, where he demonstrated his skill and love for pool, winning numerous awards over the years. His joy for the game was matched only by the camaraderie he shared with close friends who enjoyed countless hours of friendly competition with him. Richard was also a proud member of the Sweeney Post, where he fostered connections within his community.
Raised Catholic, Richard found strength and comfort throughout his life in his faith. He embraced the values and principles it instilled in him, which guided him through both good times and challenges.
Richard particularly cherished his role as a grandfather. He adored spending time with his six grandchildren—Violet, Kaylee, Lilly, Emily, Olivia, and Alex—whom he loved immensely. He took great joy in sharing moments with them, creating memories that will forever be treasured.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen (Rand) Mailhot, and his sisters Lorraine Petit and her husband Normand, Doris Abair and her husband Phil, and Joyce Talbot and her husband David. He is also survived by his brother Fernand Mailhot, sister-in-law Eleanor Rand, daughter Jennifer Leigh, and stepchildren Frank, Charlie, and Linda and her husband Bob.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Adrien Mailhot, his mother, Rita (Chaput) Mailhot, and his brothers Roland, Roger, and Dennis Mailhot.
A graveside service to honor Richard’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 10 at 11:00 AM, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH. Friends and family are invited to gather at this service, celebrating a life well-lived and the love he shared with those around him. Richard will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the kindness, love, and light he brought into the lives of so many.
