Richard G. Martel, 48, of 285 Governors Road, Milton, died February 19, 2008 in Cocoa, FL. He was born in Manchester on March 14, 1959, the son of Robert and Cancia (Gauthier) Martel and had been a resident of the city for most of his life before moving to Milton in 2000. He had worked for Velcro USA for 30 years until his illness caused his retirment. He had been a dog breeder and enjoyed boating, motorcycles and traveling. He was an avid fan of the Daytona 500 and of Bike Week in Laconia. He will be remembered as a loving father. He was predeceased by his wife, Georgianna (French) Martel who died in 2006. Martel of Pittsfield; his father of Manchester, a brother Robert Martel and his wife Lisa of Candia; a sister, Denise Bastien and her husband Gerry of Manchester; one nephew, Jaymin Martel of Candia; his constant companion, Ruby Dow of Gilmanton; and uncles, aunts and cousins. He passed away in Florida doing what he wanted, the way he wanted and on his own terms.
