Dick spent his first two years of grammar school attending Youngsville School on Candia Road. He then transferred to St. George Grammar School on Pine Street where he graduated high school in 1955.
Dick enjoyed playing the French horn and trumpet during high school and was in the marching band and orchestra. As a young man, he enjoyed skiing at Cannon and Belknap Mountains (now Gunstock).
He was introduced to his wife Jeannine Flora (Provost) Miville by friends while at the Carousel Ballroom. At the ballroom there was a so called "Stag Line". That is where anyone without a partner could ask others that were also unaccompanied to dance with them. Jeannine chose him.
Dick and Jeannine were married at St. Theresa's Church in Manchester on May 30, 1960. They moved to Auburn 50+ years ago where they purchased their house on 10 acres of land in 1965. They raised three sons Daniel, Edward and Richard Jr. there. Richard Jr. passed away at the age of 22 on August 23, 1988.
For 25 years, Dick worked at R.H. Llewellyn's on Elm Street in Manchester selling office supplies. He then opened his own business Office Equipment Services installing and servicing office equipment for another 25 years and retired at 66 years old.
During their 57 years of marriage, Dick and Jeannine would spend a lot of time at the ocean deep sea fishing and spending time with family. He also enjoyed completing the crossword puzzles from the local newspaper with his wife. Jeannine passed away on July 6, 2017. Dick loved to read, listen to classical music, and enjoy having his dog by his side and meeting friends at Sandy's Variety sharing coffee and conversation. Dick's favorite politician was Ronald Reagan and he loved all types of food with no particular preference.
Over the past 54 years in Auburn, Dick watched the population and building in town boom. His thoughts for all for the future are to hang in there and have a good frame of mind.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Villa Crest Nursing home for the exceptional care they have provided over the years to both Dick and Jeannine, to Edwardo from Meals on Wheels and the neighbors on Rockingham Road that helped Dick as he strived to remain home as his health declined.
